I really never wanted to play the clarinet but that is the instrument that I was assigned in grade 9. Guess my music teacher must have known a thing or two because it has worked out pretty well since then. Music gave me a creative outlet, and the opportunity to make more friends, go more places, and have a wider variety of experiences then the painfully shy person I was then would have managed their own.
I thought I had outgrown playing the clarinet when I graduated and went out into the real world but luckily, my husband knew better and gave me a Sears Clarinet for our first Christmas together. It was awful but it got me playing again. Eventually a work colleague found out that I played an instrument and invited me to a local community band rehearsal. It was an eye opening experience...
